Its Ability

Spikes

During your opponent's turn, whenever 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon becomes his or her Active Pokémon, Forretress does 10 damage to it. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance.) This power stops working if Forretress is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.

Its attacks

Rapid Spin

30

If your opponent has any Benched Pokémon, he or she chooses 1 of them and switches it with their Active Pokémon; then, if you have any Benched Pokémon, you switch 1 of them with your Active Pokémon. (Do the damage before switching the Pokémon.)

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

  1. A strength

80 HP. Only 5 cards in Neo Discovery carry more.

  2. A strength

It has an Ability, Spikes. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.

  3. Keep in mind

Retreat cost 3. Once it is out front, it stays there. Pack something that moves it another way, or you will burn whole turns discarding Energy.

  4. Keep in mind

None of the 3,811 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.

  5. Keep in mind

Weakness Fire ×2. Against a Fire Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,811 tournament lists we have read, 914 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.

When it came out

Neo Discovery landed here on 1 June 2001.
