Its Ability

Extra Energy Bomb

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may discard Electrode ex and all the cards attached to it (this counts as Knocking Out Electrode ex). If you do, search your discard pile for 5 Energy cards and attach them to any of your Pokémon (excluding Pokémon-ex) in any way you like. This power can't be used if Electrode ex is affected by a Special Condition.

You may discard as many Energy as you like attached to your Pokémon in play. If you do, this attack does 30 damage plus 20 more damage for each Energy you discarded.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

    It has an Ability, Extra Energy Bomb. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.

    None of the 3,811 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.

    It is an ex card. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 2 Prizes instead of one, and games do turn on exactly that.

    Weakness Fighting ×2. Against a Fighting Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,811 tournament lists we have read, 875 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
