Its Ability

Heat Up

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may count the total number of Energy cards attached to all of your Pokémon and all of your opponent's Pokémon. If your opponent has more total Energy cards attached, you may search your deck for 1 Fire Energy card and attach it to 1 of your Benched Pokémon, if any. Shuffle your deck afterward. This power can't be used if Typhlosion is affected by a Special Condition.

Its attacks

Super Singe

50

Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Burned.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

  1. A strength

100 HP. Only 4 cards in Expedition Base Set carry more.

  2. A strength

It has an Ability, Heat Up. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.

  3. Keep in mind

None of the 5,461 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.

  4. Keep in mind

It is a Stage 2. You have to come through Quilava to get here, or find a Rare Candy to skip the middle step.

  5. Keep in mind

Weakness Water ×2. Against a Water Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 5,461 tournament lists we have read, 2,200 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.
