Pikachu has appeared in several sets: McDonald's Collection 2014 (MCD14 5), Generations (GEN 26) and XY (XY 42). It is the same card every time — it plays the same, only the artwork and the price change. Here is what it does once it is on the table.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
60 HP. Only 2 cards in McDonald's Collection 2014 carry more.
A strength
Retreat cost 1. One Energy to discard and it is back on the Bench, which matters a lot on the turn you need to swap attackers.
A strength
It is a Basic Pokémon. You can put it down on your very first turn, with nothing to evolve through.
Keep in mind
None of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
Weakness Fighting ×2. Against a Fighting Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read, 1,724 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
