Seller location

Charizard has appeared in several sets: Legendary Collection (LC 3), Base Set (BS 4), Base Set 2 (B2 4) and Stormfront (SF 103). It is the same card every time — it plays the same, only the artwork and the price change. Here is what it does once it is on the table.

Its Ability

Energy Burn

As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may turn all Energy attached to Charizard into Fire Energy for the rest of the turn. This power can't be used if Charizard is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.

Its attacks

Fire Spin

100

Discard 2 Energy cards attached to Charizard in order to use this attack.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
120 HP, and nothing in Legendary Collection goes higher. That is the wall your opponent has to break through before taking a Prize.
A strength
Fire Spin hits for 100 on 4 Energy. Nothing in Legendary Collection hits harder for that price.
A strength
It has an Ability, Energy Burn. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
Keep in mind
Retreat cost 3. Once it is out front, it stays there. Pack something that moves it another way, or you will burn whole turns discarding Energy.
Keep in mind
None of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
It is a Stage 2. You have to come through Charmeleon to get here, or find a Rare Candy to skip the middle step.
Keep in mind
Weakness Water ×2. Against a Water Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read, 3,294 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.

The other cards of this Pokémon

Two cards of the same Pokémon can be worth wildly different amounts — it depends on the set, the rarity and the artwork. We put all 110 Charizard cards on one page, priciest first.
