What the card itself says

Everything below is written on the card itself: how much health it has, what it fears, and what its attacks cost.

HP
120
Type
Metal
Retreat cost
1
Weakness
×2
Resistance
-30

Its Ability

Danger Perception

As long as Scizor ex's remaining HP is 60 or less, Scizor ex does 40 more damage to the Defending Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

Its attacks

Steel Wing

40

During your opponent's next turn, any damage done to Scizor ex by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance).

Cross-Cut

50+

If the Defending Pokémon is an Evolved Pokémon, this attack does 50 damage plus 30 more damage.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

WHAT IT HAS GOING FOR IT

  • Retreat cost 1. One Energy to discard and it is back on the Bench, which matters a lot on the turn you need to swap attackers.
  • Steel Wing hits for 40 on 2 Energy. Nothing in Unseen Forces hits harder for that price.
  • It has an Ability, Danger Perception. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

  • None of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
  • It is an ex card. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 2 Prizes instead of one, and games do turn on exactly that.
  • Weakness Fire ×2. Against a Fire Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read, 816 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.
