WHAT IT HAS GOING FOR IT
- Gigantic Tusks hits for 250 on 3 Energy. Nothing in Scarlet & Violet hits harder for that price.
- It is a Basic Pokémon. You can put it down on your very first turn, with nothing to evolve through.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
- Retreat cost 4. Once it is out front, it stays there. Pack something that moves it another way, or you will burn whole turns discarding Energy.
- None of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
- It is an ex card. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 2 Prizes instead of one, and games do turn on exactly that.
- Weakness Psychic ×2. Against a Psychic Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read, 1,909 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
- Mark G, and that letter has already left the format. You can still play it at home, or keep it in your binder. In a Standard tournament, no: the letters allowed today are H, I, and J.
