Its Ability
Burning Energy
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may turn all basic Energy attached to all of your Pokémon into Fire Energy for the rest of the turn. This power can't be used if Charizard is affected by a Special Condition.

WHAT IT HAS GOING FOR IT
- 120 HP, and nothing in Expedition Base Set goes higher. That is the wall your opponent has to break through before taking a Prize.
- Scorching Whirlwind hits for 120 on 4 Energy. Nothing in Expedition Base Set hits harder for that price.
- It has an Ability, Burning Energy. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
- Retreat cost 3. Once it is out front, it stays there. Pack something that moves it another way, or you will burn whole turns discarding Energy.
- None of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
- It is a Stage 2. You have to come through Charmeleon to get here, or find a Rare Candy to skip the middle step.
- Weakness Water ×2. Against a Water Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read, 1,351 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
