Each product is compared with itself: its price at the last check against its price 7 or 30 days earlier. These are the prices sellers ask in their listings.

We compare products from 5 € up, each at its cheapest listing.
A move only counts between two days that each had at least 6 listings for sale. With fewer, one listing coming or going is enough to shift the price, and the move would mean nothing.
We add up the prices of everything we compare, at the last check and on the day we compare against. We say this total is going up or down only when the gap is bigger than what listings coming and going would move on their own.
