Its Ability

Forest Murmurs

Once during your turn (before your attack), if you have more Prize cards left than your opponent, you may choose 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon and switch it with 1 of the Defending Pokémon. This power can't be used if Torterra is affected by a Special Condition.

Its attacks

Vigorous Dash

100

Does 30 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Torterra does 30 damage to itself.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
160 HP, and nothing in Diamond & Pearl goes higher. That is the wall your opponent has to break through before taking a Prize.
A strength
Vigorous Dash hits for 100 on 4 Energy. Nothing in Diamond & Pearl hits harder for that price.
A strength
It has an Ability, Forest Murmurs. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
Keep in mind
Retreat cost 4. Once it is out front, it stays there. Pack something that moves it another way, or you will burn whole turns discarding Energy.
Keep in mind
None of the 7,452 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
Weakness Fire +30. Against a Fire Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 7,452 tournament lists we have read, 1,743 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
