Kabutops has appeared in several sets: Fossil (FO 9) and Legendary Collection (LC 27). It is the same card every time — it plays the same, only the artwork and the price change. Here is what it does once it is on the table.

Remove a number of damage counters from Kabutops equal to half the damage done to Defending Pokémon (after applying Weakness and Resistance) (rounded up to the nearest 10). If Kabutops has fewer damage counters than that, remove all of them.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
Retreat cost 1. One Energy to discard and it is back on the Bench, which matters a lot on the turn you need to swap attackers.
A strength
Sharp Sickle hits for 30 on 2 Energy. Nothing in Fossil hits harder for that price.
Keep in mind
None of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
It is a Stage 2. You have to come through Kabuto to get here, or find a Rare Candy to skip the middle step.
Keep in mind
Weakness Grass ×2. Against a Grass Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read, 5,067 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.

The other cards of this Pokémon

Two cards of the same Pokémon can be worth wildly different amounts — it depends on the set, the rarity and the artwork. We put all 18 Kabutops cards on one page, priciest first.
