Its Ability

Burning Head

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may look at the top 3 cards of your deck, choose 1 of them, and put it into your hand. Discard the other 2 cards. This power can't be used if Infernape is affected by a Special Condition.

Its attacks

Flare Up

150

Search your discard pile for 8 Fire Energy cards, show them to your opponent, and shuffle them into your deck. (This attack does nothing if you don't have 8 Fire Energy cards in your discard pile.)

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
Flare Up hits for 150 on 2 Energy. Nothing in Diamond & Pearl hits harder for that price.
A strength
It has an Ability, Burning Head. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
Keep in mind
None of the 7,530 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
Weakness Water +30. Against a Water Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 7,530 tournament lists we have read, 3,037 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.

The other cards of this Pokémon

Two cards of the same Pokémon can be worth wildly different amounts — it depends on the set, the rarity and the artwork. We put all 15 Infernape cards on one page, priciest first.
