On 9 October, in detail

38 copies for sale

Card language: French. Sellers: Worldwide. Asking prices exclude shipping and import charges. On 9 October, we observed 38 copies in this selection.

One listing can offer several copies, so we count the cards one by one.

Here’s how they split by condition.

  • Mint 3 copies across 3 listings
  • Near Mint 32 copies across 32 listings
  • Excellent 3 copies across 3 listings

In Near Mint, professional sellers usually ask 4% less than private sellers.

We compared their 6 listings with 26 listings from private sellers, all in this condition.

A professional seller sells cards for a living, often through a shop. A private seller is a collector or a player like you, selling their own cards. These are the prices they put up. The final price of a sale is something we don’t see.

Intermediate pace

Its copies leave at an in-between pace.

  • At least 10 copies gone since 10 September
  • 37 for sale on 8 October

The pokoSCORE looks at how fast copies of this card leave the listings we check every day, where collectors sell cards to each other, and compares that pace with the other cards in French that we follow. It says nothing about the price: a card can fly off the shelf and still be worth three euros.

A copy that’s gone may have sold, or its seller may have taken it down: from the outside, the two look alike. We only count the ones that never came back on sale, hence the “at least”.

When it came out

Its Ability

Shivery ChillFrisson Glacé

Once during your turn, if this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, you may search your deck for up to 2 Basic Energy cards, reveal them, and put them into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.Une fois pendant votre tour, si ce Pokémon est sur le Poste Actif, vous pouvez chercher dans votre deck jusqu'à 2 cartes Énergie de base, les montrer, puis les ajouter à votre main. Mélangez ensuite votre deck.

Its attacks

Hail BladeLame Grêle

60×

You may discard any amount of Energy from your Pokémon. This attack does 60 damage for each card you discarded in this way.Vous pouvez défausser autant d'Énergies que vous le voulez de vos Pokémon. Cette attaque inflige 60 dégâts pour chaque carte défaussée de cette façon.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

  1. A strength

It has an Ability, Shivery Chill. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.

  2. A strength

It is a Basic Pokémon. You can put it down on your very first turn, with nothing to evolve through.

  3. Keep in mind

None of the 6,577 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.

  4. Keep in mind

It is an ex card. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 2 Prizes instead of one, and games do turn on exactly that.

  5. Keep in mind

Weakness Metal ×2. Against a Metal Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 6,577 tournament lists we have read, 909 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

  6. Keep in mind

Mark G. It is not among the marks currently accepted in Standard: H, I, and J. A legal reprint may still provide an exception.

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.

Two cards of the same Pokémon can be worth wildly different amounts — it depends on the set, the rarity and the artwork. We put all 10 Chien-Pao cards on one page, priciest first.
