Its Ability

Energy Connect

As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may take a basic Energy card attached to 1 of your Benched Pokémon and attach it to your Active Pokémon. This power can't be used if Ampharos is affected by a Special Condition.

Its attacks

Lightning Strike

You may discard all Lightning Energy cards attached to Ampharos. If you do, this attack's base damage is 80 instead of 40.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
100 HP. Only 4 cards in Expedition Base Set carry more.
A strength
It has an Ability, Energy Connect. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
Keep in mind
None of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
It is a Stage 2. You have to come through Flaaffy to get here, or find a Rare Candy to skip the middle step.
Keep in mind
Weakness Fighting ×2. Against a Fighting Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read, 1,724 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.

The other cards of this Pokémon

Two cards of the same Pokémon can be worth wildly different amounts — it depends on the set, the rarity and the artwork. We put all 39 Ampharos cards on one page, priciest first.
