Altaria has appeared in several sets: Dragons Exalted (DRX 84), Boundaries Crossed (BCR 152) and BW Black Star Promos (BWP BW48). It is the same card every time — it plays the same, only the artwork and the price change. Here is what it does once it is on the table.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
Retreat cost 1. One Energy to discard and it is back on the Bench, which matters a lot on the turn you need to swap attackers.
A strength
It has an Ability, Fight Song. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
Keep in mind
None of the 8,098 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
Weakness Dragon ×2. Against a Dragon Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 8,098 tournament lists we have read, 1,670 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
