Its Ability

Eye of Disaster

As long as Absol is your Active Pokémon, whenever your opponent puts a Basic Pokémon from his or her hand onto his or her Bench, put 2 damage counters on that Pokémon.

Its attacks

Vicious Claw

Choose 1 Pokémon from your hand and put it in the Lost Zone. (If you can't put a Pokémon in the Lost Zone, this attack does nothing.)

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

A strength
Retreat cost 1. One Energy to discard and it is back on the Bench, which matters a lot on the turn you need to swap attackers.
A strength
Vicious Claw hits for 70 on 2 Energy. Nothing in Triumphant hits harder for that price.
A strength
It has an Ability, Eye of Disaster. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
A strength
It is a Basic Pokémon. You can put it down on your very first turn, with nothing to evolve through.
Keep in mind
None of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
Keep in mind
Weakness Fighting ×2. Against a Fighting Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 8,067 tournament lists we have read, 1,724 run at least one Pokémon of that type.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.

The other cards of this Pokémon

Two cards of the same Pokémon can be worth wildly different amounts — it depends on the set, the rarity and the artwork. We put all 30 Absol cards on one page, priciest first.
