Mew ex has appeared in several sets: 151 (MEW 151) and Paldean Fates (PAF 216). It is the same card every time — it plays the same, only the artwork and the price change. Here is what it does once it is on the table.

WHAT IT HAS GOING FOR IT
- It retreats for free. You can pull it back to the Bench whenever you like, even with no Energy on it at all.
- It has an Ability, Restart. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
- It is a Basic Pokémon. You can put it down on your very first turn, with nothing to evolve through.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
- None of the 3,150 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
- It is an ex card. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 2 Prizes instead of one, and games do turn on exactly that.
- Weakness Darkness ×2. Against a Darkness Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,150 tournament lists we have read, 1,897 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
- Mark G, and that letter has already left the format. You can still play it at home, or keep it in your binder. In a Standard tournament, no: the letters allowed today are H, I, and J.
