WHAT IT HAS GOING FOR IT
- 380 HP, and nothing in Mega Evolution goes higher. That is the wall your opponent has to break through before taking a Prize.
- It has an Ability, Solar Transfer. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.
- Mega Venusaur ex runs it in 30 of the 30 lists we have read, seen across 30 different tournaments.
- Mark I. The next rotation takes mark H away, so this one stays tournament legal.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
- Retreat cost 4. Once it is out front, it stays there. Pack something that moves it another way, or you will burn whole turns discarding Energy.
- It is a Mega Evolution ex, and that is the most expensive rule in the game. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 3 Prizes instead of one. They need six to win, so 2 knockouts on this card are enough. Send it out knowing that.
- It is a Stage 2. You have to come through Ivysaur to get here, or find a Rare Candy to skip the middle step.
- Weakness Fire ×2. Against a Fire Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read, 816 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
