Its Ability

Dust Field

As long as this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, your opponent can't have more than 3 Benched Pokémon. If they have 4 or more Benched Pokémon, they discard Benched Pokémon until they have 3 Pokémon on the Bench. If more than one effect changes the number of Benched Pokémon allowed, use the smaller number.

Its attacks

Poisonous Gem

140

Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Poisoned.

What to make of it

Have a look at what it does well, then at what will get in your way. After that you'll know whether it belongs in your deck.

WHAT IT HAS GOING FOR IT

  • 270 HP. Only 5 cards in Paldean Fates carry more.
  • It has an Ability, Dust Field. An Ability costs you no attack, so you can use it and still swing the same turn.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

  • Retreat cost 3. Once it is out front, it stays there. Pack something that moves it another way, or you will burn whole turns discarding Energy.
  • None of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read runs it. That does not make it a bad card — it means we have not seen it on a table yet.
  • It is an ex card. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 2 Prizes instead of one, and games do turn on exactly that.
  • Weakness Grass ×2. Against a Grass Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read, 2,021 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
  • Mark G, and that letter has already left the format. You can still play it at home, or keep it in your binder. In a Standard tournament, no: the letters allowed today are H, I, and J.

Who plays it

None of the tournament lists we have read mentions this card. That happens with a card that has just come out, or one players have not tried yet.
