WHAT IT HAS GOING FOR IT
- 310 HP. Only 2 cards in Surging Sparks carry more.
- Retreat cost 1. One Energy to discard and it is back on the Bench, which matters a lot on the turn you need to swap attackers.
- Reversing Storm hits for 130 on 1 Energy. Nothing in Surging Sparks hits harder for that price.
- Flygon ex runs it in 10 of the 10 lists we have read, seen across 10 different tournaments.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
- It is an ex card. The turn it goes down your opponent takes 2 Prizes instead of one, and games do turn on exactly that.
- It is a Stage 2. You have to come through Vibrava to get here, or find a Rare Candy to skip the middle step.
- Weakness Grass ×2. Against a Grass Pokémon, apply that to the damage it takes — it climbs fast. Of the 3,299 tournament lists we have read, 2,021 run at least one Pokémon of that type.
- Mark H, and that is the letter the next rotation takes away. After that you will not be able to play it in Standard.
